EARLY PIONEER DIES AFTER SHORT ILLNESS

B.G. Miltimore Passes Away Monday Morning - Funeral Held Wednesday

B.G. Miltimore, one of the few remaining early pioneer business men of this village, died Monday morning at 8 o'clock after a four weeks illness with a complication of gravel and uremia poisoning. During the short time he was sick he rallied several times and seemed to be recovering, but owing to his age he weakened rapidly towards the last until death finally claimed him. He was nearly 62 years old.

Bradbury Green Miltimore was born Dec. 21, 1852 at Patten [sic], Province of Quebec, Canada, and moved with his parents to Plainfield, Waushara County, Wis, in 1854, where most of his early life was spent. After he had grown up he accepted a position as clerk in a store in New York state from which place he came to this village in 1878, going into partnership with his brother John in the general store business, under the firm name of Miltimore Bros. They dissolved partnership a few years ago since which time B.G. Miltimore conducted the store alone until the present time.

When "Brad" as he was familiarly called by his many friends, first came to the place where Dorchester now stands, the railroad extended only a few miles north of town and the now prosperous village consisted of but half a dozen buildings, and the forest primeval extended on all sides.

He was a strictly temperate man and smoked only occasionally. He was an enthusiastic sportsman and many were the tales he used to relate about his trips with rod and gun. He will always be remembered by his many friends as one who was always congenial and friendly and one who always had a cheerful greeting for everyone he chanced to meet.

In 1904 he had the honor of serving the village as its president, and at the time of his death was serving his second term as village clerk. He was a notary public for many years and was quite an authority on legal matters and often gave advice to his friends in this capacity.

B.G. Miltimore was a single man and leaves to mourn his death, besides numerous friends and other relatives, four brothers and two sisters, James A. of Stevens Point, John A. of Brockway, Ore., Arthur of Plainfield, Wis, Eliza B. of Stevens Point, and Mrs. Lucy Hugoboom of Los Angeles, Cal.

The funeral conducted by Undertaker E.J. Fuchsgruber, was held Wednesday at 2 o'clock, p.m., from the John Miltimore home and Salem Evangelical church, the Rev. W.W. Krueger officiating.

[Bradbury's actual place of birth, May have been Potsdam, St. Lawrence Co., NY]
