Wilke, Charles (3 NOV 1857 - 03 Jan 1916)

Chas. Wilke died at his home in the town of Washburn Monday evening. Death came to him suddenly. During the afternoon he was in usual health, and about four o’clock he was stricken with paralysis, dying at about eight.

He was born at Disco, Germany, Nov. 3, 1857. He came to America in 1885, and Sept. 10, 1886 was married to Henrietta Simon of Elkhorn, Wis., where they lived for over eleven years. In Nov. 1897 they came to Clark County and bought the farm which has been their home ever since. Mr. Wilke was a man of the highest character, honest, industrious and fair in all his relations with his fellow men. He was a kind husband and father and a helpful neighbor. He leaves his wife, two sons, and five daughters: Mrs. Frank Jahr of Granton; Charles, who has a position at Unity; Mrs. Reinhold Pagenkopf of East Pine Valley, Mrs. John Counsell of Grant; Arnold at home, Clara, a senior in the Neillsville High School and Helen, aged nine years, at home.

The funeral will be held at 12 o’clock today, Thursday.
