Owen, Hazel (Marriage - 14 JUN 1916)

Last Wednesday morning in the Catholic Church at Kent, Minn., Miss Hazel Owen and John Wicklein were united in the holy bonds of matrimony. Father Schritz, in the presence of a large concourse of relatives and friends, tied the nuptial knot, which will bind the two hearts together for the remainder of life’s journey. The bride was beautifully gowned in white Georgette crepe, trimmed with silver lace and wore a veil fashioned in the cap effect. She carried bride roses and lilies of the valley. The bridesmaid, Miss Mildred Owen, a sister of the bride, had a pretty dress of cream marquisette silk. Frank Wicklein, a brother of the groom, acted as best man. The bride’s travelling suit was of tan wool poplin, hat and accessories to match. The bride was born and raised at Neillsville, Clark County, Wis., where her parents still reside. She came here four years ago with her sister. The young ladies are at present managing the Metropole Hotel, and the Millinery Store. The bride is a very estimable young lady and has made many friends during her sojourn in our village, who wish her much happiness. The groom is well and favorably known having grown to manhood in this vicinity. He is Assistant Cashier of the First State Bank and is very well thought of. The young couple starts in life with the best of opportunities and their many friends including the Messenger, wish them unbounded success through a long and happy wedded career. They went to Fargo the same day and from there went via auto to the lakes and expect to return home the first of next week when they will take up their residence at the Metropole Hotel for the present. Mr. and Mrs. John Wicklein will give a public reception and dance to their friends in Holkstad and Tweto’s hall some evening next week, the date to be announced later. All are cordially invited. (Abercrombie, N.D. Messenger)
