OBITUARY OF MARIUS ANDERSON

Marius Anderson was born in Drammon, Norway, May 6, 1852 and passed away at his home in this city, Aug. 21, 1932, having reached the age of 80 years, 3 months, and 15 days.

On Aug. 22, 1875 he was united in marriage to Miss Olive Larsen. To this union were born four sons and one daughter, one son and the daughter dying in infancy.

He came to America in 1884 and resided at Withee for six years before coming to Greenwood, Clark County in 1890. The family lived on a farm west of this city for many years and later moved to their present home here.

Previous to coming to this country he was a salt water sailor and had visited all the large ports in South America, England and Canada. He leaves to mourn his death his aged widow and three sons, Otto, Albert and Morris, 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Seven years ago Mr. and Mrs. Anderson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Funeral services were held from the United Lutheran Church Tuesday afternoon, rev. M.K. Aaberg officiating. The body was laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery.

The fact that the church was filled to capacity is the best testimony of the esteem in which Mr. Anderson was generally held. The floral offerings were many and beautiful and were indeed a tribute to a grand old man.

The pallbearers were his three sons, Otto, Albert and Morris Anderson, his grandson Arnold Anderson and his two grand sons-in-law, Art Long and Herman Persike. The flowers were in charge of Mrs. Elmer Johnson and Mrs. O.J. Amundson and granddaughters, Ida, Jane, Alberta and Lucille.

Relatives and friends from out of town who were here for the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Art Long, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Long, Mrs. Martha Long, Mr. O. Thorpe, Mrs. Geo. Thorpe and Mrs. Clara Thorp of Stanley; Mr. and Mrs. Nels Sorenson, Mr. Julius Sorenson, Mr. Oscar Sorenson, Mr. Martin Sorenson, Mrs. Wm. Kuester, Mrs. C. Benson, Mrs. L. Jacksonson, Mr. E. Sorenson and Mr. and Mrs. Ole Bragstad of Longwood; Mr. and Mrs. O.A. Anderson and children, Mr. and Mrs. M. Anderson and children, Mr. and Mrs. F.E. Shanks, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Meek, Mr. A.M. Anderson and Mrs. O. Hansen of Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Anderson and daughter Lucille of Fond du Lac; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cota and daughter Helen and Miss Alberta Anderson of Madison and Mr. and Mrs. H.A.
