Dr. F.W. Schweinler

Dr. Frederick William Schweinler passed away at his home here at 1: 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 13, 1939, after a month’s illness with heart trouble and complications.

Dr. Schweinler was born at Jefferson, Wisconsin, July 16, 1879 to Charles and Frederika (Bruss) Schweinler. He was a graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Toronto, Canada in the class of 1903. From April of that year until August, 1904 he practiced veterinary medicine and surgery at Antigo. He then came to Neillsville and carried on his practice until November 1, 1933 when he was appointed to the United States Department of Agriculture and assigned to Bang’s disease evacuation service. Through long years of experience and skill in his profession he gained a wide acquaintance among rural people throughout this section of the state , though he was possessed of an unusually quiet disposition.

On July 13, 1905 he was married to Miss Lillian Creviere of Antigo, their marriage taking place in Marshfield. Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Schweinler; Francis, editor of the Mosinee Times, Mosinee, Wis.; Merritt, Marinette; Mrs. Earl (Ione) Bruhn, Neillsville; Dale, Madison; Charles, Milwaukee; Mrs. Donald (Jeanette) Saxton, Beloit; and DeWayne at home.

He is survived by his wife and children, a brother, Dr. Charles Schweinler, Belvidere, and three sisters: Mrs. Orie Puerner and Mrs. George Ames, Jefferson and Mrs. James Culver, Weslaoo, Texas.

Funeral services were held the Schiller funeral home Saturday, December 16, Rev. G.W. Longenecker conducting the rites. Interment took place in the Neillsville cemetery.

The pallbearers were O.W. Schoengarth, Dr. M.E. Bennett, J.L. Neverman, Herman Morth, D.E. Thayer, and attorney William A. Campman.

Out of town relatives and friends in attendance were: all of the children and there families; Mr. and Mrs. John Creviere of DePere, Dr. and Mrs. Charles Schweinler, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schweinler, Jr. and Jas. Schweinler, all of Belvidere, Ill.; Mrs. Orie Puerner, Jefferson, Mrs. Elizabeth Creviere, Antigo; Mrs. E. Tituler, DePere; Theodore Humke, Greenwood; Mrs. harry Bruhn, Marshfield; Mrs. G. Thorp and Mrs. Long, Stanley; Mr. and Mrs. Will Wood, Neopit, and a delegation of American Veterinary Association members.
