Kepke, Henry (1 MAY 1875 - 2 OCT 1934)

Henry Kepke, son of Mrs. and Mrs. Joseph Kepke, Watertown, was born May 1, 1875 in Watertown and grew to manhood there. He departed this life at the Marshfield Hospital, Tuesday, Oct. 2, 1934, after an operation for brain tumor, performed the previous Saturday evening.

Mr. Kepke was united in marriage with Anna Fenz on Aug. 21, 1905 at Watertown, Wis. To this union were born a daughter, Evelyn, Mrs. Theo. Decker of this city, and a son who died immediately after birth.

Mr. and Mrs. Kepke spent the first five years of their married life in Chicago and then moved north of Greenwood, Clark County, to their land, a wild tract which they have developed into a modern farm, where they have since resided except for two years, 1925-27, when they lived in Oshkosh.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, daughter and two grandsons, and the following brothers and sisters, Joseph of Canada, Frank of Deep Creek, Wash., John of Seattle, Wash., Charles of Milwaukee, and William address unknown, Anna, Mrs. Frank Palmershein and Katherine, Mrs. Frank Mirgler of Milwaukee, Frances, Mrs. Howard Johnson of Chicago and a host of other relatives, besides the local neighbors and friends who keenly sorrow at his passing. Two sisters and a brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Schuh at the Catholic Church Saturday morning, Oct. 6, 1934 and the body was laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Those from out of town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Kepke, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Palmershein and a brother-in-law Frank Mirgler of Milwaukee; a niece, Mrs. Agnes Clarey of Columbus, a niece, Mrs. Annette Kluberanz of Morisonville, a brother-in-law, Nick Illgen and Mr. and Mrs. John Lerch of Sun Prairie; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sheblak of Thorp; Mrs. Kepke’s brother, Warren Fenz and son Walter of Watertown; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kerstelle, Mrs. Kepke’s sister, and their son-in-law, Fenton Angle of Red Granite.

The floral offerings were beautiful and attested the high esteem with which Mr. Kepke was held.
