Susa, James L. (27 MAY 1922 - 19 NOV 2002)

James L. Susa, 80, Greenwood, Clark County, Wis., died on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 22, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Joseph Follmar officiated. Burial was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Kari Wolfe, Scott Susa, Brett Susa, Shana Susa, Shawn Susa and Christopher Susa.

James Leroy Susa was born on May 27, 1922, in Green-wood, to John Sr. and Dora (nee Bautch) Susa. He was raised on the family farm and educated at St. Mary’s School, Greenwood. After his education, he worked with his father on the farm. He married Irene Herkert on June 1, 1950, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield. They farmed west of Greenwood until 1960 and then moved to a farm east of Green-wood until 1992, when their son, Jim, took over. He helped his son on the farm until the time of his death. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Catholic Knights. He was a former supervisor for the town of Eaton and also plowed snow for the town. He was on the Greenwood Milk Products Board of Directors for nine years. His interests included spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, auctions, shining deer, smelting and singing.

Survivors include his wife, Irene, Greenwood, five sons, Dennis (Darla) Susa, Chili, David (Bonnie) Susa, Mosinee, Donald (Dawn) Susa, Spencer, James G. Susa, Loyal, and John (Sandy) Susa, Eleva; 11 grandchildren, Shawn, Kari, Shana, Scott, Brett, Christopher, Jesse, Samantha, Vincent, Spencer and Mitchell; four step-grandchildren, Bryce, Adam, Kelly and Dale; one great-granddaughter, Kenzie; and two brothers, Giles (Shirley) Susa Sr., Greenwood, and Cletus Susa, Greenwood.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, John Susa Jr.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
