Foster, Carol A. (5 MAR 1910 - 25 NOV 2002)

Carol A. Foster, 92, Colby, Wis., died on Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby. The Rev. John Malik officiated. Burial was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, town of Colby.

Carol Ann Henkel was born on March 5, 1910, in the town of Hull, Marathon County, to Charles and Venia (nee Weise) Henkel. She attended a rural elementary school in the town of Hull, Colby High School, Benicia High School, Benicia, Calif., and Vallejo Business College, Vallejo, Calif. She was employed by the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph, San Francisco. She married Marcellus Foster on Sept. 23, 1935, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Catholic Order of Forest-ers, and the Colby Senior Citizens.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis (Judy) Foster, Fall Creek, and Richard (Leslie) Foster, Eau Claire; one foster son, Eugene (Tina) Derfus, Greenwood; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Brent) Steinke and Joan (Adam) Kopec; one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter; two half-sisters, June (Donald) Foster, Milwaukee, and Anita (Gene) Plante, Milwaukee; and one stepbrother, Oscar Michaelsen, Appleton.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Marcellus, on July 1, 1988; her parents; and three brothers.

Community Funeral Home, Colby, assisted the family with arrangements.
