Winkler, Robert E. (12 Apr 1941 - 12 Jan 2003)

Robert E. "Bob" Winkler, 61, Unity, Wisconsin, died on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital Emergency Room, Marshfield. Visitation will be held from 4-9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, at Community Funeral Home, Colby, and for one hour prior to 11 a.m. funeral services on Friday, Jan. 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Unity. The Rev. John Clasen will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, town of Brighton. Pallbearers will be Jedd Winkler, Jeff Winkler, Joel Winkler, Ryan Winkler, Brad Suckow, Brian Suckow and Chad Suckow.

Robert Winkler was born on April 12, 1941, in Colby, to Norman and Dorothy (nee Schultz) Winkler. He graduated from Colby High School. He married Karen Klessig on Nov. 4, 1961, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Unity. He hauled milk for Mandel Dairy for several years. In 1963 they took over the family farm and operated it until the present time. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. His interests included polka music, bowling and deer hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Winkler, Unity; three sons, Kevin (Pamela) Winkler, Seymour, Darren (Patricia) Winkler, Deerfield, and Kyle Winkler, Verona; five grandchildren, Cody Winkler, Mikenna Winkler, Kari (John Wagner) Kilburg, Amy Kilburg and Ashley Kilburg; one sister, Pat (Jerry) Suckow, Unity; and three brothers, Dennis (Jeanne) Winkler, Green Bay, David (Mary Jo) Winkler, Stanley, and James (Jeanette) Winkler, Appleton.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a niece, Andrea Winkler; and a nephew, Curt Suckow.

Community Funeral Home, Colby, is assisting the family with arrangements.
