Syth, Ron R. (1 DEC 1935 - 16 Dec 2002)

Ron R. Syth, 67, died on Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, in San Jose, Calif. A private burial service was held on Thursday, Dec. 19, and a memorial service was held on Saturday, Dec. 21, at First Immanuel Lutheran Church, San Jose. Music was provided by Anita Jamison-Blanks, organist, and members of the adult choir. The Rev. Robert D. Newton and the Rev. Timothy Gerdes officiated.

Ron R. Syth was born on Dec. 1, 1935, to Gerald and Leona (nee Weber) Syth. He attended Greenwood schools and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1953. He entered the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1956. He entered Wisconsin State College, Eau Claire, in 1957 and finished his college education in 1967 at San Jose State University with a degree in industrial engineering. He married Bette Nystad on June 24, 1961. He worked for IBM from 1961 until retiring in 1992. He was associated with The Gideons International, Board of Elders First Immanuel Lutheran Church, Correctional Institutions Chaplaincy of Santa Clara County, the IBM Quarter Century Club, and was the executive director of the Peninsula Industrial Business Association.

Survivors include his wife, Bette; one son, Tom (Jodi) Syth; one daughter, Debra (Mark) Bieber; two grandsons, Zachary and Joseph Syth; one brother, Duane (Phyllis) Syth, Greenwood; and three sisters, Geraldine Syth, Orland Park, Ill., Rita (Norm) Mayenschein, Greenwood, and Suzanne (Russ) Brockman, Greenville.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Bernard Syth.
