WHITE, PHILIP FAMILY

Philip S. White was a pioneer and resident of the town of York. He was born in Frankford, Ontario, Canada, Nov. 22, 1848 to Benoni White and Cloha Smith. He was married to Miss Ellen McKenzie of Sterling, Canada, daughter of David I and Rose McKenzie on Sept. 19,1872.

In 1878, Mr. and Mrs. White came to the United States, settling in Outagamie County where they lived until their coming to Clark County in 1880. They purchased wild land in the town of York and lived there for fourteen years. He worked nine winters, felling virgin timber with an axe and crosscut saw.

Later they purchased a larger tract of land nearer Loyal and farmed until they retired.

They had six daughters: Mrs. Georee (Ida) Fiddler. Mrs. Norman (Eunice) Rogers, Mrs. Emil (Mary) Haupt, Mrs. Hobert (Alice) Swieso, Mrs. James (Mina) Colby, Mrs. Walter (Effie) Swieso, and five sons, Will, Dave, Frank, James and Herbert. (died 1980.)

Most or their children attended the Palmer (Lincoln) school.

Barcelona was Daniel Mack's grandfather. I would be interested in sharing information.

I'd like to know the connection between Barcelona and Daniel Mack. I believe Daniel's wife was "Polly Chard" but I don't know her lineage.

Yet another of my Chard line in Wisconsin. Benoni was descended from my 5th great grandparents, Barcelona Chard & Catherine Rosebush. He was a first cousin of Erastus & Daniel Mack who also settled in Clark County. The bio indicates there is a picture...I don't suppose it would be possible to get a copy. Again, I can't thank your organization enough for your fine work and the wealth of information I have gathered. If anyone would like to contact me regarding these families, I'd be pleased to hear from you. Sincerely, Sandra Millis Lethbridge, AB, Canada
