Knorr, Lynn E. (25 FEB 1889 - 5 Oct 1918)

Lynn E. Knorr, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Knorr of this city (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.), died at Camp Grant Oct. 5, 1918, from the effects of Spanish influenza.

He was born at Sherburne, Minn. Feb. 25, 1889; came to Granton with his parents, grew up there, attended Granton schools and graduated from the Neillsville High School in 1907; attended the State University and graduated in 1911. He then became Assistant Comptroller of the State University of Illinois, which position he held for several years. He then entered the firm of Warwick, Mitchell and Peat, certified Public accountants, where he remained until he entered the army at Camp Grant. There he was appointed to a position on the Psychological Board. Two weeks before his death he entered the officers training school.

His splendid intellectual attainments, his rare ability and technical skill, his high moral standing as a man would seem to have made his life valuable far beyond that of the average man of his years. We cannot believe that he has either lived or died in vain. His life was still full of promise and to our limited vision only a glimpse may be had of what the example of his life and the sacrifice of his death May bring to the world.

Besides his parents, he leaves two sisters, Shirley, who teaches at Crosby, Minn., and Myrtle at home.

The funeral took place Saturday at the Masonic Temple in Rockford, Ill., under military and Masonic auspices. Deceased was a member of Neillsville Lodge 163, A. F. & A. M.

Six soldiers, who were also Masonic brethren, acted as pallbearers.
