Stelloh, George (Jun 1896 - 13 Apr 1919)

A government telegram received here Friday by the Stelloh family, announced that their brother George died of disease at Diersdorf, Germany, April 13, 1919. George was in the 32nd Division, which is supposed now to be homeward bound. He was a member of the old Co. A and had seen all the service in which that company took part. He was in the border campaign in 1916, went out with the first call to Two Harbors, Minn., in April 1917, and had passed safely through the fierce struggles in which the 32nd Division gained glory in France. Particulars of his death May reach home friends later either by letter or when the boys get home.

George was born in Pine Valley, Clark County, Wis., being the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stelloh. He was 22 years and 10 months old. He leaves four brothers, Henry of Milwaukee, Fred, Conrad and Edward of Neillsville , and four sisters: Mrs. Anna Miller, Mrs. Wm. Zank, Mrs. Arthur Stockwell and Mrs. Alvin Pagenkopf. George was one of our finest young men; honest and industrious, intelligent and brave. His death is a sacrifice, a loss to this community and to the nation.
