Coszell, Maria (14 MAY 1838 - 21 Feb 1920)

Mrs. Maria Coszell died at the home of her son in Wausau Feb. 21, 1920 at the age of 81 years, 9 months and seven days.

Funeral services were held at Wausau Monday afternoon and the remains were brought here Tuesday morning and laid to rest that afternoon beside her husband in the Neillsville Cemetery, Rev. L. B. Colman officiating.

Mrs. Coszel was a pioneer of Clark County, Wis.. she and her husband came here from Philadelphia, Pa. In the early sixties and settled on a farm south of this city.

Before marrying Mr. Coszell in 1856 she taught school for a number of years.

The first year they lived in Clark County she taught in the Gates School south of Neillsville.

Mr. Coszell died Jan. 22, 1875, leaving his wife and six small children.

She was a most excellent woman, a devoted mother and a fine friend.

She is survived by the following children: Mr. David Coszell of Wausau, Mrs. Lottie Hauge of Wausau, Mrs. Con. Gorman of Neillsville, Mrs. Stella Harmon of Black river Falls, Mrs. Mary Birch of Spooner, Miss Lillian Coszell of Chippewa Falls. She has thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
