Emmerson, Secelia (26 NOV 1834 - 1 OCT 1908)

Mrs. Secelia (Cecelia?) Emmerson, wife of Nels Emmerson, died at her home six miles southwest of Thorp, Clark County, Wis. on Thursday, Oct. 1, 1908, of cancer of the stomach, from which she had been a sufferer for a number of years. She has been able to be about up to about a week ago, when she was confined to her bed. She was 74 years of age. She was born in Norway Nov. 26, 1834, and was united in the holy bonds of matrimony with Mr. Emmerson in 1862. Later they immigrated to America, where they settled down on a farm near Thorp, where they resided twenty-two years. Three children were born to them, all of whom are living. They are as follows: Andrew Emmerson of Stanley; C. N. Berg, who is at the old home, Mrs. Sever Bjornstad, living at Owen.

The funeral was held from the residence on Saturday afternoon last and the remains were interred in the Thorp Village Cemetery, Rev. Grenskou of Stanley officiating. She leaves to mourn her death her husband and three children as above stated.
