Vanhulst, Henry (Mar 1857 - 22 Jan 1908)

Henry Vanhulst, of the town of Worden, Clark County, Wis., died of smallpox at his home on Wednesday of last week. He had been taken ill while in a lumber camp and returned to his home, and apparently recovered from the disease, but a relapse followed, which ended his life in short order. A daughter was also taken ill with the disease, but has recovered. He was about 50 years of age, and leaves a wife and seven children. The remains were buried here in the Catholic Cemetery by neighbors, no services being held.

(Additional information provided by Lani Bartelt)

Henry Van Hulst was born in March of 1857 in Holland and he died at home in Worsen from a relapse of smallpox contracted in a lumber camp.

His FAG includes a obit from the Thorp Courier dated 1/30/1908. He was married to Georgean/Grata Tatten and they were married in 31 January 1888 in Brown Co., Wi. Their children were Kate, Nicholas, Hattie, John Henry, Josephine, Evert, and Albert.

His parents were Nicholas Van Holtz/Van Hulst and Catherina Van Rijsingen.

I am not sure where his wife died and/or where she is buried but in 1910 - 1930 she was still living in Worden on the family farm and by 1940 at age 75 she is living in Kaukauna, Wi with daughter Josephine aka Josie and her husband Earl Alger. When and where she died and is buried I do not know.
