25 YEARS AGO (Jan 22, 1976)

Mr & Mrs. Harm Reit are planning on selling their garden supply business to their daughter and son-in-law, Roxan and Dwight Isenberger.

Diane Mathison was named to the 1975 edition of "Who’s Who among American High School Students".

Six men who used to live in this area but moved to Longview, WA have retired from Longview Fibre Paper Mill and they are: Alvin Mortensen, Walter Rasmussen, Walter Krall, Gilbert Evenson, Robert Craig and Glen Erdman.

40 YEARS AGO (Jan 26, 1961)

J.J. Long Sons, Inc was burglarized and between $750 and $800 worth of clothing was taken.

Mr & Mrs. Edward Stelter’s farm house, belongings and car was destroyed by fire on Tuesday morning.

50 YEARS AGO (Jan. 25, 1951)

Charles Kalata resigned his position as parish secretary from St. Mary’s Czestochowa church. He was succeeded by Walter Pogodzinski.

Howard Kohn accepted the position of county agricultural agent in Monroe county.

60 YEARS AGO (Jan 24, 1941)

Steve and Alex Kiraly have joined the U.S. Air Corps. They are the sons of Mr. & Mrs. Alex Kiraly of Stanley.

70 YEARS AGO (Jan. 23, 1931)

Reinhold Dahlke, age 40, died after his truck struck a moving train.

Bjarne Peterson, clothing salesman at the Farmer’s Store reported being robbed of some clothing, leaving their old and some food between closing Wednesday and opening Thursday.

100 YEARS AGO (Jan 26, 1901)

Leff Johnson went to Eau Claire to purchase another horse for the mail service.
