Tormey, Rose A. (11 Mar 1840 - 7 May 1916)

Mrs. Rose Agnes Tormey, a former resident of Thorp, Clark County, Wis., and later of Stanley, died at her home in Wautoma, Wis. on May 7, 1916, after a few days illness. All her children except Peter, and four grandchildren were with her when the end came.

The remains were brought to Thorp and laid beside those of her husband, Hugh Tormey, who died nineteen years ago.

Rosa Agnes Garrigan was born in West Mathe, Ireland, March 11, 1840. She came to this country with her parents when a child and resided in New Jersey until 1862, when she came to Wisconsin. She was married May 4 of the same years to Hugh Tormey of Mayville, Wis.

She leaves six children, eleven grandchildren and one great-grandson to mourn her loss. Her sons are: Dennis of Wautoma, Frank of Thorp, and Peter of St. Johns, Ore. Her daughters are: Mrs. C. P. Alton of Withee, Wis., and Anne and Julia of Wautoma, Wis.

The funeral services were held on Wednesday forenoon at St. Bernard's Church at this place, Rev. Fathers De Wild of Wautoma and Neises of Thorp, officiating.

All of the children except Peter attended the funeral. Also the following grandchildren: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tormey and baby Wayne, Margaret, Madeline, Mr. and Mrs. B.J. Broeren, Cecil, Paul and Florence Tormey.
