Wagner, John (24 JUN 1842 - 28 Apr 1921)

John Wagner died after a two week's illness of bronchitis at his home in the town of Reseberg, Clark County, Wis., Thursday morning, April 28, 1921, aged 78 years, 10 months and 4 days.

Deceased was born in Unsick, Germany, June 24, 1842. When 3 years of age he came with his parents to Manitowoc Co., Wis. Here Mr. Wagner grew to manhood and on Sept. 13, 1871 was united in marriage with Mary Meyer, town of Meeme. To this union nine children were born, 5 of whom with Mrs. Wagner, survive him. They are Wm. J., Joseph, George E., Mrs. Frances Kiedeth, Mrs. Theresa Heiser of Worden, and six grandchildren, also two brothers, Michael Wagner of Kiel and Conrad Wagner of Plymouth, Wis.

About thirty-six years ago, the family came to Clark County, Wis. and have since resided on their farm south of Thorp. Mr. Wagner was a good friend and neighbor, a kind and indulgent husband and father, and it was in his home that his true worth was most conspicuous. When fully conscious that he was nearing the last of earth, the Christian faith sustained him and the final gloom of death was dispelled by the radiance of God's love.

The funeral services were held at St. Bernard's Church on Saturday morning, Rev. Neises officiating. The three sons served as pallbearers with John and Wm. Hickman and Mike Heiser, interment in St. Bernard's Cemetery.
