Amanda S. Endru 1907-2002

Amanda S. Endru, 95, longtime resident of the town of Taft, died Nov. 15 at the Fall Creek Valley Care Center in Fall Creek.

Amanda was born on March 12, 1907 in Rushford, Minn., the daughter of Ernest and Amanda Johnson. The family moved to Montana, relocating to the town of Taft in 1914. She attended area schools, graduating from Stanley High School in 1926. She then taught school in Taylor County.

Amanda was united in marriage to Lloyd Endru on October 10, 1935, in Stanley. She lived and farmed in the town of Taft until 1953 when she and her husband moved to Ellsworth and ran a restaurant until 1956. She then moved back to the Stanley area where her husband passed away in 1965. She worked for a number of years at Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley.

Amanda had a great love for her family and was always interested in their activities. She liked dancing, cooking and baking, and was especially known for her Russian bread.

Amanda is survived by two daughters, Sylvia Lois (John Hakes) of Eau Claire and Donna Endru of Stanley; one son, David (Mary) Endru of Stanley; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Carl (Frances) Johnson of Austin, Texas; and one sister, Ruby Lemke of Eau Claire.

Amanda is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lloyd in 1965; and one brother, Charlie Johnson.

Funeral services were held on Nov. 20 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Stanley. Pastor William Stewart officiated.
