William Niznik

William "Willy" Niznik, age 76, of Lublin passed awa Thursday, February 20, 2003 at this home under the care of Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc.

William Niznik was born on June 10, 1926, in Lublin, WI to Johan and Anastasia (Sitarski) Niznik. He was educated at area schools. William was united in marriage to Winifred Wisniewski on August 22, 1950, in Medford, WI. In the early 1950’s he worked as a union laborer for the old Thorp High School. He later went to work for Taylor County as a heavy equipment operator.

In the late 1960’s, he worked for the Ohio and Mannix pipelines. In 1969, Willy and Winnie bought a 315 acre dairy farm in the Town of Maplehurst where they farmed until retirement when they moved to the Village of Lublin.

He is survived by his wife: Winifred of Lublin, WI; eight children: Faye Niznik (Richard Cwikla) of Withee, WI, Jane (Mike) Smelser of Whitehouse, TX, Rita (Richard) Hughes of Thorp, WI, Bill Niznik (Pam Ewer) of Lublin, WI, Lori (Randy) Quelle of Withee, Sue (Tim) Zach of Jump River, WI, Rose (Byron) Dircks of Stanley, WI and John (Patti) Niznik of Milladore, WI; 24 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; one brother Paul Niznik of Withee, WI; two sisters; Rose Skinner and Helen Rohland both of Owen, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 children: Gail Jean Niznik and Thomas William Niznik, and one brother, Steve Niznik,

Funeral services were held on Monday, February 24, 2003, 10:00 a..m. at the Thorp Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Daniel Welch officiating. Burial followed at Holy Trinity Ukranian Cemetery, rural Thorp. Pallbearers were: Ben Quelle, Matt Volk, Jake Volk, Troy Niznik and Travis Niznik.

Willy loved to have fun. He was hard working and very proud of his family.
