A team belonging to James Christie became frightened by the tongue of the buggy running through the neck-yoke and letting the wheels run against them, yesterday, and dashed down street from O’Neil House at a furious gait. The driver, a step-son of Mr. Christie, who was in the buggy, with much presence of mind seized one of the wheels with one hand and used the lines with the other, but was unable to stop them. They run into the railing in front of Mrs. Allen’s millinery store, striking the tongue against a post. The shock broke the tongue and threw the buggy several feet in the air. The driver went over team, railing and all, and after turning a complete summersault in the air struck square upon his feet without injury except several slight cuts on the fingers. The team started again, left the buggy upside down at Rossman’s and were stopped uninjured at the mill.
