Carpenter, Henry (4 Dec 1826 - 16 JUN 1907)

Henry Carpenter died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Richmond, last Sunday evening at nine o'clock, where he had been visiting for several months. He suffered a stroke of paralysis on Jan. 14th, from which he had never fully recovered. He was eighty years, six months and twelve days old.

The deceased was one of the pioneers of Trempleau Co., being a resident of the town of Preston for forty-eight years. He was a devoted husband, kind and indulgent father, and to his friends the soul of fellowship. He had filled the various relations of life as son, husband, father, brother, friend, and filled them well. Who can do more?

He leaves two sons, William Carpenter of Blair and Fred Carpenter of Manitoba, and three daughters, Mrs. James Richmond of this village, Mrs. J. E. Allen of Blair and Mrs. Fred Whitney of Penelton, Oregon, who sincerely mourn his loss.

The remains were taken to Blair last Tuesday morning and laid to rest beside his wife, who died only a short time ago. The funeral services were held this afternoon at two o'clock.
