Jones, Maude (22 MAY 1881 - 5 Apr 1908)

Died, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Graves, in this village (Loyal, Clark County, Wis.), Mrs. J. A. Jones. Had she lived until May 22nd, she would have been twenty seven years of age.

Seldom has it been our duty to record so sudden a death. A dark gloom spread over the whole community when it was whispered from one to another on last Sabbath afternoon that "Maude was gone." She was of an affectionate disposition, bright and winning in her ways so that friendship's circle was to her a large one. Her affection for friends and kindred was tender and abiding. Here she played as a child, developed into beautiful girlhood; here her busy life was spent, her battles fought, her faithful service rendered to the world. In this dearest of all places to her, she lies down at length to sleep and rest. She ran the journey of her life in twenty-seven years. It is a path marked with deeds of kindness and cheer. Flowers not thors, sunshine not shadow, died she scatter everywhere. With these she was lavish. Truth was the inspiration of her life and by kindness she exemplified its great worth.

She was married to Mr. J. A. Jones on Oct. 28, 1903 in this village, and from here they went to Coffee Springs, Ala., and remained in the south until their return a month ago, intending to make this village their future home.

The last services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon at half past two. Rev. Towne officiated and paid a tribute to her memory. The flowers were many and beautiful.

We extend our sympathy and bow humbly to the will of God. On Sunday, April 5, 1908, she fell asleep and on Tuesday she was buried in our Silent City.
