Clerk disappears

Ira. B. Pope, ex-County Clerk, disappeared rather suddenly from these parts a few weeks ago, and his whereabouts are shrouded in mystery. Mr. Pope’s departure was of the character that does not admit of formal leave taking, and there are those who mourn the loss sustained in his going hence. It is currently reported that he is a defaulter to the County to a considerable amount, which May have caused other fields to hold out to him a brighter and more promising future.
