Margaret Vanderhyden

Margaret C. Vanderhyden, age 91, of Thorp, died at the Clark County Health Center, in Owen, on Monday, October 15, 2001 at 2:27 a.m.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2001, at St. Bernard’s-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Thorp. Father John Puerner will officiate and burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2001 at the Thorp Funeral Home from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. rosary service.

Margaret Catherine Micke was born on December 27, 1909 in the Town of Worden, Clark County, to the late Anton and Mary (nee Pritzel) Micke. She was raised and educated in rural Thorp. They resided in Thorp where Margaret was a housewife and raised her children. Her husband died on July 8, 1971. She continued to reside in Thorp until entering the nursing home.

Margaret was a member of St. Bernard’s-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, a charter member of the Thorp American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed sewing, gardening and playing cards.

She is survived by a daughter: Ann (Franklin) Lindstrom of Red Wing, MN; a son Richard (Sandra) Vanderhyden of Greenfield, WI; a step-son Junior Vanderhyden of Thorp; a step-daughter Dorothy (Cliff) Carlson of West Allis, WI; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two sisters: Marion Culbert of Eau Claire, WI and Lenore Haynes of Clearwater, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sons in infancy, a daughter Masie Vanderhyden, a step-son Murvil Vanderhyden and a grandson Rick Vanderhyden.
