Helen Jwasczuk

Helen Jwasczuk, age 97, of Thorp, formerly of Lublin, died at Oakbrook Health and Rehab, in Thorp, on Friday, December 7, 2001.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a,m, on Wednesday, December 12, 2001, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin. Father Phillip Juza officiated and burial followed in the parish cemetery. Visitation was held at the church on Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Helen Pliszka was born on April 4, 1904, in Chicago, IL to Valentine and Suzanne (Harbon) Pliszka. She was raised on the farm and worked on the farm with her parents. In 1924, she was united in marriage to Peter Jwasczuk in Indiana. They moved to Chicago, where they worked and raised their daughter, Victoria. They moved to Chicago in February of 1963. Helen continued to live in Chicago until 1985, at which time she moved to Lublin to be near her brother Adam. She entered the nursing home in November of 1992, and resided there until the time of death. Helen was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and enjoyed sewing.

She is survived by a son-in-law Ervin Kostick of Holcombe, WI; three grandsons; four great grandchildren: two sisters: Phyllis Piotrowski of Gilman, WI, Elizabeth (Michael) Czyzewski of Wheeling, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: husband Peter; her daughter Victoria Kostick on July 11, 1985; three brothers and four sisters.
