GROVESIDE School

The first school was a log house located on the south side of Nielson's corners.

The second school was also a log building located on the birthplace of Frank Seefeld, who was attending this school when it was destroyed by a forest fire. This school was built in 1896. It was then relocated near Schofields and was later consolidated.

Charmaine Becker--The Groveside school was right up the road from the Hutchins farm. It was drawn from memory by Dale Seefeld who was also a neighbor to the Hutchins and a classmate of my mothers and both attended Groveside. On the upper left hand fence line it says Catlin Property line which was my grandmothers Anna Catlin-Hutchins family farm. :-)

The photo above is of my mothers sister Iva Hutchins who also went to Groveside school, she is in the middle row third from left with large (pink) bow in her hair. Do not know the names of any other children or teacher in photo. Iva was born in 1905 so maybe 1912 photo taken ???

This photo is of Anna Catlin and Clarence Hutchins both of Spencer and my grandparents, both of their fathers were veterans from the Civil War.
