Autum By: Elsie Abel

As we watch the procession of seasons, Thjrough woodlands and valleys we've seen The delicate tints of spring replaced By summers deep toned greens.

New summer has slipped over yonder hill Autum greets us with each dawn, With paints and grush and trisker stride He walks across our lawn.

The creek bottoms and the mountain side Each give their faintest hint As with gold, red, brown and bronze Our painter begins to tint.

Robins, Bluebirds and Meadowlarks All summer our woodlands roam Now sing to us their farewell song Before soutward they wing home.

As we bid farewell to summer, we see Autumn as we glance aside With bolder strokes and broader brush Splash the slopes with a scarlet tide.

And in silet awe we stand before The beautiful sunset hues Watch it fade from brightest crimson To the very softest blue.

Then comes the night with velvet step To softly close each day. And the stars appear until the universe Stands forth in majesty.

Behold its beauty, breathe a crisper air, Thank God, both you and me Our Creator for his handiwork And for eyes that we can see
