Sylvia M. Blanchette 1915-2003

Sylvia M. Blanchette, 87, passed away on March 16 at Lakeside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chippewa Falls.

Sylvia was born on Oct. 24, 1915, in Grandview, the daughter of John and Emma (Buske) Tuttle. She grew up in the area and attended area schools.

On March 23, 1934, Sylvia was united in marriage to Lester Blanchette in Carlton, Minn. They lived and farmed in the town of Anson, Boyd and Stanley area until retiring and moving to Stanley, where she has resided since.

Sylvia is survived by two daughters, Lois (Martin) Baldeschwiler of Lansing, Ill., and Judy (Marvin) Schultz of Hatley; five sons, Paul (Gina) of Sandstone, Minn., William (friend Darlene) of Moundview, Minn., Robert (Rene) of Stanley, James (Pam) of Chippewa Falls, and Thomas (Sue) of Cadott; 29 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pearl (Vernon) Johnson and Beatrice Steinmetz, both of Ashland; and a brother, William (Gen) Tuttle of Ashland.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester, in 1989; one son, Eugene; one grandson; one great-grandson; one great-grandson; three brothers; and two sisters.

Besides her love for her family, she enjoyed gardening, crocheting and cooking, and was especially known for her potato dumplings, baked beans, and angel food cake, just to name a few.

Funeral services were held March 19 at Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley. Pastor Gerald Mann officiated. Burial was in Edson Union Cemetery in rural Boyd.

Pallbearers were Andy, Adam, Tim, Nick and Eugene Blancette and Jeff Schultz.
