Merrill, Meina (Minnie) (21 OCT 1880 - 17 Jan 1917)

The community learned with sadness of the death on Jan. 17, 1917 of Mrs. James Merrill, who died after an illness of two weeks, at the Marshfield Hospital, aged 36 years, 2 months and 26 days.

The deceased was the daughter of Carl and Etta Mueller, was born and lived until her marriage on a farm near Spokeville, Clark County, Wis. She was married Dec. 15, 1901 to James Merrill and they lived for a time in this village, later moving to their farm in the town of Beaver, seven miles north. To this union were born seven children, six of who survive her. The names of the children are as follows: Violet, Maud, Fern, Ruby, Lawrence and Leland. The baby, Edna, one week old, dying a week ago.

Besides these her husband, five stepchildren, Harry, Samuel, Waneta, Percy and Nettie, she is survived by one sister, Mary, and five brothers, Fred, George, August, John and Charles, who mourn the loss of a kind and living wife, mother and sister.

The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist Church, with interment at the Loyal Cemetery, Rev. W. C. Clock officiating. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Miss Nettie Merrill from Milwaukee, and a cousin Miss Harp from Hartford.

***Family Notes from Mary Ellen Mueller Schroeder:

Etta's name was short for Henrietta. Also, Edna's obit has some errors. The name on here should be Miena and she was known as Minnie. She was born 21 oct 1880 and not 1830. The heading is wrong. Edna M was Minnie and James Merrill dau. She also died in 1917. 11th of Jan. Minnie was my aunt. Could you change it. Thank you
