Wallace, William (4 Augl 1873 - 15 Jul 1917)

William Wallace, who died at Oak Forest, Ill., July 15, 1917, was born in Utah, Scotland, on Aug. 4, 1873. When at the age of five years his parents moved from Scotland to Liverpool, England, where he grew to manhood. In 1888 his father was drowned at sea, going down with the ship of which he was captain. In 1889 he enlisted in the British army and served during the period of the Boer war. His mother was carried to the Great Beyond in 1902 and shortly after her death he came to America, locating in New York City. From there he went to Chicago and thence to Milwaukee, where he was united in marriage to Catherine Foster, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Foster of the town of Colby, Clark County, Wis., July 1914, and to this union was born one son.

The deceased was of very pleasing and gentlemanly character and was well liked and respected by all who knew him.

The body was brought here last Thursday and the funeral took place from St. Mary's Church Monday morning, Rev. Henry Lachnit officiating. Interment was made in Colby St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
