Obituary:

James McCauley

James A. McCauley, age 74, Neillsville, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at the Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville. Military rites will be accorded by the Neillsville Veterans Council.

James A. McCauley was born Jan. 20, 1929 in Tomah, to Harold and Gertrude (nee Steinmetz) McCauley. Following high school, he served in the United States Marine Corps. He also served with the Tomah Police Department, the U.S. Border Patrol, Wisconsin State Patrol Insurance Claims, and the Clark County Sheriff's Department, retiring from the sheriff's department as a sergeant in 1991. He was a member of the American Legion, Tomah. His interests included hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandsons, family, and close friends.

Survivors include his wife Bev; his son, James (Elaine) McCauley, Menasha; three grandsons, Timothy McCauley, LaJuene, North Carolina, Sean McCauley, Duluth, Minn., and Jason McCauley, Menasha; three nephews, Randy McKevitt, Washington, D.C., Brian McKevitt, Neillsville, and Craig McKevitt, Minneapolis, Minn.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, and one sister.

Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
