Voss, Hermuth (? - 16 JAN 1920)
Gust Voss returned from New Holstein, Wis. last week where he had been to attend the funeral of his brother Hermuth, who died at his home in this village (Colby, Wis.) on Jan. 16, 1920. The young man's death was caused from a wound in the head received in the battle of Fismes in France.
Even though all the family was at Hermuth's bedside when death came they were not prepared for this sorrowful gathering as they had all come home to assist their parents in celebrating a rare event as their golden wedding anniversary, which was on the day of this death.
Hermuth had become quite well acquainted here during the time spent while on several visits to his brother. He was a young man of exceptional cheerful disposition and his numerous friends will miss him from their midst.
The funeral was held from the Lutheran Church in New Holstein on the Monday following his death, and a large delegation from the American Legion and other comrades followed the remains to their last resting place in the New Holstein Cemetery.
