McNeight, Anna (15 JUN 1845 - 20 Jan 1921)

Word was received here last Friday of the death of Mrs. James McNeight, a pioneer resident of Unity, Wis., which occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. W. Gallagher at Madison. She was active until about two months ago when she was stricken with the illness which resulted in her death.

On Nov. 17, she went to Madison, accompanied by her husband and daughter, Mrs. G. E. Lamont, to consult physicians and all that skilled hands and loving care could do were of no avail and she passed away at 10:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20. Her husband and two daughters, who were at her bedside, accompanied the remains to Unity on Saturday.

Anna O’Reilly was born in Cavern Co., Ireland, Jun 15, 1845. She came to America at the age of 14 years and remained here for about twelve years, when she returned to see her mother in Ireland. She returned to America the following year and was married to James McNeight at Racine, Wis. in 1873. The following March they moved to a homestead five miles from Unity, which has been her home up to the time of her death.

She is survived by her husband and four children, Joseph of Stratford, Mrs. A. W. Gallagher of Madison, Wm. And Mrs. G. E. Lamont of Unity, two children, Bernard and Mary, Preceded her in death. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Bridge Clare, New York City, and a brother, Pat Smith of Brooklyn, N.Y.

The funeral was held Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock at St. Mary’s Church at Colby, interment in the Colby St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
