NOTICE: May it be known to the farmers of the town ofGrant, that I have removed the fences from my land. Farmers will be responsible for any damage done on my lands by cattle owned by them. Siegmund Conrad, Grant, March 21, 1887

MARSHFIELD: March 25th, Joseph Wauke, an unmarried farmer about 25 years old, living near Bakerville, four miles from this city, was found dead in his house on Thursday morning. A recently discharged gun was found beside him in the room. As he had been shot once through the heart, it is not positively known whether he met his death from foul play or if he committed suicide, but the general rumors strengthen the suicide theory.
