Tuttle, Barbara (7 JUL 1849 - 5 Jul 1927)

Ten minutes after greeting her son, Roy Tuttle, who having been called because of the failing health of his mother, had just arrived from his home at Beach, North Dakota, Mrs. Barbara Tuttle, wife of Francis M. Tuttle of Stetsonville, quietly passed away here at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Olson, late Monday evening. Cause of death was due to heart trouble from which she has suffered for some time and three weeks ago she and her husband came to the Fred Olson home. Last week all of her nine children were called and spent a few days with her, with the exception of Roy Tuttle who did not arrive until Monday. Although she has been ailing for some time her passing was sudden and a surprise. Funeral services will be held at the Olson home Thursday afternoon at 1:30 and at the M.E. church in Colby at 2:00 o'clock, The Rev. Hanscom officiating, interment will be made in the Colby Cemetery. Six grandsons will act as pallbearers, Lawrence and Byron Olson, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Olson; Claude and Francis Tuttle, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tuttle; and Robert and Gilbert Olson, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Oluf Olson.

The deceased was born in Linden, Sheboygan County and had she lived until Thursday, July 7th, she would have been 78 years old. Shortly after marrying Mr. Tuttle they came to the town of Colby, Clark County, Wis. 55 years ago, and took a homestead, which numbers them among the early pioneers of this section. The family have made their home in this section ever since. During the early years of their on the homestead, Mr. Tuttle was engaged in logging operations in this and other parts of Wisconsin. After leaving the homestead Mr. and Mrs. Tuttle lived in the city of Colby and at Abbotsford for a time and four years ago went to Stetsonville where they purchased a farm and lived there with two sons, Lincoln and Frank.

Surviving are her widower and nine children, Tom Tuttle of Sand Rock, Frank and Lincoln at home, Mrs. Oluf Olson of Neillsville, Mrs. Harry Fisher of Black River Falls, Roy Tuttle, Beach, North Dakota, Mrs. Erwin Gallagher of Oregon, Ed. Tuttle of Duluth, Minn., and Mrs. Fred Olson of the Town of Hull; one brother, Nelsen Shanks of Antigo; two sisters, Mrs. O.B. Madison of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Frank Pickett of Spencer; thirty-three grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. All of the children and her brother and sisters are here for the funeral.
