Provinski, Minnie (9 Apr 1855 - 3 Mar 1929)

Funeral services for Mrs. Albert Provinski, who passed away at the family home in colby, Wis., Sunday morning, were conducted Wednesday afternoon at the family residence and at the M. E. Church, Rev. Fahlgren officiating. Interment followed in the Colby Cemetery. Bernice Brehm, Dorothy Provinski, Ruth Provinski, and Marion Provinski acted as flower girls.

Mrs. Provinski passed away following an illness of ten days, pneumonia being the cause of her death. She was numbered among the old pioneers of this section, coming to the town of Hull, Marathon Co., Wis., half a century ago, in May 1879, before her marriage. Born at Plymouth, Sheboygan Co., Wis., on April 9, 1855, she was 74 years, 10 months and 23 days old. Before her marriage she was Miss Minnie Aderhold and came to this section with two brothers in 1879. The following year, on April 28, 1880, she became the bride of Albert Provinski and they made their home on the groom's farm located a mile north of Cherokee, where they made their home, with the exception of four years, until 1919, when they retired to the city of Colby.

When the Provinski's married and started to farm in 1880, the Cherokee district was a wilderness and only the sturdiest folks could face the years of hardship and struggle that were before them. Undaunted by what lay ahead, they cleared their land and made one of the finest farms in this section and, with nearly fifty years of residence here, the deceased had seen the results of their toils and took a just pride in building a community that is one of the best farm sections in the state. She had seen the Indian trails widen out into broad highways and ribbons of concrete, the timberlands replaced by fertile fields and lived in an era that has brought many comforts to those who opened this country in days when it was young and only the strong and fit could expect to survive and make a living. She was the mother of five children, two of them having died in infancy.

She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. E. A. Brehm; two sons, Rank of Abbotsford and Edward of Duluth, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Hoffman, Waldo; and Mrs. Anna Provinski, Madison; three brothers, Charles Aderhold, town of Hull; Will Aderhold, Plymouth; Emil Aderhold, Neenah; and ten grandchildren. Her departure will be mourned by a host of friends, as she was a faithful wife and loving mother, a good neighbor that was always ready to offer kindness.
