Irene S. Turner

Irene Turner, age 88, of Neillsville, died Friday, Oct. 31, at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Irene Sophie Turner was born on February 9, 1915 in Currie, New Mexico, the daughter of Martin and Daisy (Noll) Reinart. As a young child her family moved to Wisconsin, where they lived in both Bruce and Ladysmith. Irene attanded school in Ladysmith. In 1926 they moved to Neillsville and Irene finished her schooling at the Shortville school. At the age of 14, Irene went to work doing housework for families in the area. She was united in marriage to Myron Turner. At the time, Myron was in the service, so they moved to California, where he was stationed. Upon returning to Wisconsin, they opened a resort in Eagle River.

Irene enjoyed bowling, cards, and cooking.

She is survived by a sister, Marie Lepke, of Neillsville; and a brother, Lawrence Reinart of Wind Lake. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brothers and sisters, Lillian, Martin, Susie, Peter, Clarence, Bill, Joe, John, George, and Arnold.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Irene was held on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Neillsville. The celebrant was Fr. Woodrow Pace. Interment was held at the York Center Cemetery in the Town of York.

Casket bearers were Larry Turner, Rodney Turner, Ty Turner, Larry Reinart, Jr., Dale Reinart, and Paul Reinart.

The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Irene's family with funeral arrangements.
