Edgar E. Dyer 236 Newman Road Racine, Wisconsin

Mr. Dyer passed away at St. Mary’s Medical Center on Wednesday morning, June 6, 1979, at the age of 82 years. He was born in Colfax, Wisconsin, and had lived in Racine since 1923. In Greenwood, Wisconsin, on June 16, 1920, he was united in marriage to the former Lida E. Hamre. During World War II, he served with the United States Army with the Corps of Engineers. Mr. Dyer was employed by the Young Radiator Co. as a welder for 29 years, retiring in 1962. He was a member of the Holy Communion Lutheran church and Local No. 37 of Young Radiator. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Robert Belland; one son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Delores Dyer; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; three sisters, Miss Alma Dyre* of Torrence, California, Mrs. Tillie Parrott of Washougal, Washington, and Florence Stutte of Loyal, Wisconsin; three brothers, Emil Dyre of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Joe Dyer of Racine and Kenneth Dyre of Greenwood, Wisconsin; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lida E. Dyer on February 5, 1978. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, corner Sixth and Kinzie Ave., with the Rev. Dale Skogman officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn memorial Park. Friends may call Friday evening, June 8, from 7:00 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home, 1139 Blaine Ave., and at the Church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of Services. Memorials in memory of Mr. Dyer to Holy Communion Church have been suggested. *Note that the variations on the name Dyer, Dyre are as noted in the article. I have found these variations on other records so I think different members of the same family used the different spellings.
