10 Years Ago, April 9, 1992 Matthew Christianson was presented the Boy Scouts of America's highest scouting award, the Eagle, in ceremonies at Our savior's Lutheran Church. He is the son of Donella and Norm Christianson of Stanley.
Trenton John Syryczuk, the infant son born to Craig and Michelle Syryczuk on April 6, is the biggest baby ever born at Victory Memorial Hospital. Trenton weighed 13 pounds and seven ounces, and was 25 1/2 inches long.
25 Years Ago, April 7, 1977 Eight S-BHS instrumentalists will be advancing to the state solo ensemble. They are Deb Sorensen, Dennis Seidl, Phil Eslinger, Deb Shong, Jamison Walker, Beth Miller, Mike Szatalowicz and Karen Voytovich.
40 Years Ago, April 12, 1962 Stanley-Boyd High School representatives at Wisconsin Boys' State and Girls' State have been chosen. Don Samplawski and Bob Larson will attend Boys' State and Pat Brodacki will attend Girls' State.
About 1,000 trout were placed in the Wolf River five miles south of Stanley last week, near the August Hahn gravel pit.
50 Years Ago, April 10, 1952 Stanley High School students made an outstanding record in the district forensic tournament at Eau Claire April 4. Winning "A" ratings were Sonia Broberg, Connie Broberg, Betty Halmstead and Pamela Jankoski.

George Hipke defeated Andrew Sneen in the Stanley mayoral race, 471 - 360.
The names of the honor students of the Stanley High Class of 1932 were announced this week. They are Junaita Engebretson, Lois Solie, Lois Gossman, George Keefer, Ida Hazuga and Elsie Richards.
W. A. Wilhelm was re-elected chairman of the town of Thorp by a majority of one vote over the opposing candidate, E. S. Boardman. Mr. Wilhelm received 200 votes and Mr. Boardman received 199.
100 Years Ago, April 12, 1902 Riley Carpenter now wears the star of police chief and it becomes him well.
