Cammers, Dean (1919 - 24 May 1929)

Dean, the nine-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Cammers, residing one mile east and a half mile south of Atwood, Clark County, Wis., died of injuries from an automobile accident, which occurred on Friday afternoon of last week, while the lad was on his way home from school.

He, in company with four other boys, were playing along the road, while on their way home, and as the car driven by Carl Schroeder approached, he darted across the road, and was struck by the fender and knocked to the ground unconscious. Injuries about the head from the injuries about the head from the force of his fall, were the only marks of his injury. Mr. Schroeder stopped his car within a few feet, and picked the boy up, taking him to the farm home of John Miller, where Dr. Christopherson of Colby was summoned. Upon examination a fractured skull was found and the lad was immediately rushed to the hospital at Chippewa Falls where medical aid failed to revive him. He died the following morning at about eight o'clock.

The accident, as reported, was unavoidable by Mr. Schroeder, and he deeply regrets its occurrence, and the parents of the child have the sympathy of the entire community in his untimely death.

Funeral services were held Monday.
