La Reine, Camille (Marriage - Sep 1929)

Mr. and Mrs. Stanley E. Michkowski arrived home last Tuesday for an extended visit. Mr. Michkowski had been in Los Angeles for the past two years, where he has taken up commercial work and was connected with the Neolectric Sign Co. of that city. While enroute to Wisconsin, Mr. Michkowski was married to Miss Camille La Reine of Pocatello, Idaho. The wedding was a very attractive church affair at St. Joseph's Pro-Cathedral with Rev. J. C. Dolan officiating. After the ceremony the young couple returned to the home of the bride's mother, where a lovely breakfast was served to the immediate family. The young couple later left by motor for an extended honeymoon trip, taking in Yellowstone Park and other places of interest in the Northwestern States. Prior to her marriage, the young bride spent a year in Los Angeles, where she took up costume designing and was employed in several Hollywood studios.

Camille was a lovely lady and a good next door neighbor to me in 1995. I loved visiting with her in her home in Palmdale. She told me she was a costume designer in Hollywood before marrying and she had interesting stories which she told me about Clark Gable ( said he was snobby) and other stars such as John Agar, etc. I gave her an large old pink/brown book I had about MGM studios and stars. It had pictures of Marilyn Monroe and Tab Hunter and dozens of others such as Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks Jr. She also told me about the cars parked behind her house in Palmdale that were accumulating at a suspicious rate.  I have tried to locate her but waited 9 years to do so. I went to her home last year and she was no longer living there. It made me sad. I regret this as she had asked me to please be sure and write her after I moved to Alabama in '95. Would she still be with us?  Can I communicate with her? I lived next door to her for only 4 months. My last name at that time was Amesbury. I was the red head next door that she use to see doing aerobics on the carport. we lived near the Mojave Desert and it was unbelievabley hot and dry. Info would be appreciated. She was a sweet lady.
