Edna Rittenhouse

Edna Mae Rittenhouse, 80, Willard, formerly of Withee, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at her home. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Teri Blomberg officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Withee.

Edna Mae Haire was born Aug. 1, 1923 in Brainard, Minn. to Herbert and Lillian (nee Thorson) Haire. As a young child, her family moved to Withee, where she was raised on a farm and educated, graduated from Withee High School in 1941. In 1944, she married Joseph Rogers. They lived in Vancouver and Grandview, Wash. for a few years before returning to the midwest and living in Minneapolis, Minn. They later divorced. She worked for West Publishing, St. Paul, Minn. for 17 years, before retiring at the age of 62. On Dec. 22, 1988, she married Wesley Rittenhouse in Salem, Ore. They resided in Salem until May of 1998, at which time they moved to their current home in Willard. Her interests included crocheting, cross-stitching, craftwork, and playing the piano.

Survivors include her husband, Wesley Rittenhouse, Willard; four daughters, Leah (John) Harding, Minneapolis, Minn., Linda (Bob) Schroder, Apple Valley, Minn., Laurie Magers, Maple Grove, Minn., and Lois Rogers, Minn.; one son, Bill (Judy) Rogers, Lake Elmo, Minn.; one step-daughter, Linda (John) Sullivan, Turner, Ore.; one step-son, Bruce (Susan) Rittenhouse, Fort Collins, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim (Pat) Haire, Eden Prairie, Minn.; one sister, Audrey (Phil) Barnes, Hayward; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and one brother, Russell Haire.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
