Steager, Mr./Mrs. Jacob (Gold Anniv - 28 JUN 1954)

The Golden Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Steager, pioneers of the town of Hixon, Clark County, Wis., was celebrated at their home on the afternoon and evening of June 28, 1954. Many beautiful flowers, cards and cakes congratulated the Steagers. A purse of money given by friends and neighbors of Frenchtown was also presented to the couple.

Mrs. Steager, the former Anna Bruchert, was born in Germany on Jan. 3, 1881. She came to the U. S. with her parents at the age of three years. They settle in Glenwood City until 1892, when her parents moved to Withee and settled on a farm (now the H. Watson place) in Frenchtown.

Jacob Steager was born in Germany on Oct. 3, 1873, and came to the U. S. with his parents when he was 15 years of age. They settled in New York City, later moving to Glenwood City, where he made his home with a brother until his marriage.

Jacob Steager and Anna Bruchert were married on June 28, 1899 at the Frenchtown School (there being no church in Withee at that time) by Rev. A. Kuring of Colby, Wis. The bride's attendants were Miss Ida Bruchert and Miss Mary Pautz. The groom's attendants were Fred Bruchert and Gustave Pautz.

The Steagers had two sons, one who passed away in 1918 and Peter, who now manages the home farm, where the Steagers have lived almost 50 years.
