Werel, John L. (18 OCT 1836 - 7 Feb 1907)

Died, at La Crosse, in St. Francis Hospital, Feb. 7, 1907, after a brief illness, John Luckas Werel, aged 70 years, 3 months and 20 day.

John Lukas Werel was born in Germany Oct. 18, 1836, was united in marriage to Margaret Wallrig in 1865 and came to America Oct. 2, 1865, living in New Berlin, Wis. two years. They then came to Humbird, Clark County, Wis. and have lived on their farm in Jackson Co. ever since. He leaves to mourn his death a loving wife; one daughter, Mrs. John Voves; four sons, John, Mathias, Nick and Marcus; one brother, Frank of Dale, Wash.; four sisters, Mrs. Susan Schamper of Humbird, Mrs. Margaret Weber, Havanna, N.D., Mrs. Susanna Peters, North Greenfield, Wis., Mrs. Lizzie Prutz, La Crosse, Wis.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning by Rev. Stenz in St. Joseph's Church at Fairview and the remains were laid at rest in the cemetery there. The deceased will be missed by his friends and relatives, who so deeply grieve over the loss of their loved one.
