Dunn, Rebecca (14 AUG 1850 - 19 Dec 1912)

Rebecca Chambers was born Aug. 14, 1850, in Westmoreland Co., Penn. At the age of about 14 years she moved with her parents to Wisconsin, and on May 15, 1868, she was united in marriage with Mr. John Dunn. Seven children were born to them. Her husband and four of her children have passed to the Great Beyond. Three children, Rilla, Lucia and Roy, and two grandchildren, besides six brothers, George Chambers of Humbird, Clark County, Wis.; Robert of Durand; Hugh of Superior; James of Fall Creek; David of Minnesota; and William of Washington, are immediate family surviving her. When a child she was baptized in the Presbyterian Church, and in 1907 she united with the M. E. Church of Humbird. For two years she has been in failing health, and after but one week's severe illness she passed away on Dec. 19, 1912. The funeral services were held at the home and at the Johnston School House last Sunday afternoon and the burial was in the family lot in the Garden Valley Cemetery. Rev. F. M. Prucia officiated.

Thus passes another one of the pioneers of this vicinity. Since 1868 Mrs. Dunn has been a resident on the farm in Garden Valley where she died. Her home was a hospitable one in an early day, and until age and enfeebled health prevented did it remain so. Her life was one full of service to others, and an aching void is left in the home which she frequented so many years. Our sympathies are extended to the bereaved ones in their hour of sorrow.
