STRIKES IT LUCKY

H.M. Chesterman, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Chesterman, strikes it lucky in Alaska. The following was taken from the Valdez Miner:

"When the news became general many prospectors stampeded to the new strike and numerous locations were made, mant of which show excellent promise.

Amongst the lucky ones were the boys operating under the name of the Hurdle Creek Mining Co., consisting of Chas. Wetzler, Pete Layton, E. A. Sweet, H. M. Chesterman and Chas. Nelson. They located a group of claims on Hurdle Creek which are very promising. There are 23 claims in the group and no less than seven lodges are plainly defined on the group. The property was located too late in the season to do much work, but they did take out three tons of the average rock from the lead, which they shipped to the Tacoma smelter, receiving $65 a ton."
