Seefeldt, Fred (12 OCT 1871 - 5 Sep 1917)

Fred Seefeldt died at his home in Spencer, Wis. Wednesday, at 6:30 a.m., Sept. 5, 1917, his death being caused by heart trouble. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran Church and he was buried at the North Cemetery. Mr. Seefeldt was born in Germany, Oct. 12, 1871. In 1872 he came to this country with his mother, two brothers and two sisters. They settled on a farm four and a half miles northwest of Spencer (Clark County, Wis.), where he grew to manhood. In 1895 he was united in marriage to Miss Alvina Wohlfahrd. To this union were born five children, Laura, Arthur, Elsie, Leona, Elta, of whom four are living. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, four children, two brothers, Herman of Hammond, Ind., Frank of Spencer, and one sister, Mrs. Mellenthin of Spencer, four step-brothers, Frank, Albert, Herman and Charlie Manthe, and one step-sister, all of Spencer.

I am related to the Manthe family, and I believe the step-siblings listed are either step- or half-siblings of my great grandfather. I have some correspondence between Albert Manthe and Gustav Manthe, and also Elta (or Alta) Seefeldt and Gustav Manthe.
