Zimmerman, Carl (28 NOV 1831 - 31 Jul 1918)

Mr. Carl Zimmerman died at the home of his son Charles, after an illness of three months of dropsy. He was born in Luco, Germany, Nov. 28, 1831, and died July 31, 1918, at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 3 days.

His early life was spent in his native community. In 1855 he was united in marriage to Marie Falk, and they spent the first thirteen years of their married life in Germany. In 1868 they came to America and settled in Milford, Wis. Three years were spent in Milford and then they came to Humbird, Clark County, Wis., and started farming.

Three sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Zimmerman, Fred of Sparta, Gus of Merrillan, and Charles of Humbird, all of whom survive him.

For more than forty years Mr. Zimmerman had been a resident of this vicinity, following his chosen occupation until declining years compelled him to lay aside the active life and for some time he and his aged wife made their home on their son's farm. The deceased was a courteous and kindly old gentleman and was well liked by a large circle of acquaintances.

Funeral services were held at the home of Charles Zimmerman, Saturday, Aug. 3, conducted by Rev. Mr. Lutz of the Evangelical Church, and burial was in the cemetery in Houghtonburg. Relatives from away present at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Zimmerman of Sparta, Gus Zimmerman and family of Merrillan, Mr. and Mrs. John Burnett of Hixton.
